Among those who drank more than two and a half cups of tea per day, the risk of high blood pressure was reduced by 65 percent.The evidence that tea helps prevent cancer is overwhelming.

Since the 1990s, hundreds of studies have been performed showing that Oolong tea can inhibit the formation of tumors, and slow the growth of those already formed. In 1997, researchers at the University of Kansas discovered that the antioxidant power of EGCG is about 100 times greater than vitamin C and twenty-five times greater than vitamin E in protecting DNA from the kind of free radical damage that is thought to increase the risk of cancer. Researchers also found that EGCG is able to signal cancer cells to stop reproducing by promoting apoptosis, a normal cellular process leading to the death of a cell—without harming any healthy cells. One study out of Purdue University in 1998 found that an enzyme called quinol oxidase, or NOX, is necessary for the growth of both normal and cancerous cells. The overactive form of NOX is known as tNOX, for tumor-associated NOX. In test tubes, using purified NOX protein solutions, researchers found that low doses of EGCG—such as those that could be consumed by drinking several cups of tea a day—were capable of inhibiting the activity of the tNOX cells but did not inhibit the NOX activity of healthy cells.

The two thin bands encircling Woods' wrist came up on Sunday, near the end of his interview with Golf Channel reporter Kelly Tilghman. Woods also spoke to ESPN. The interviews were his first since Woods' serial infidelity became known late last year and he began undergoing therapy.

Tilghman said she noticed the bracelet and asked what it meant.

"It's Buddhist," Woods said, referring to his childhood faith. "It's for protection and strength. And I certainly need that,"

Woods explained he had been wearing the bracelet since before he went into treatment and he would wear it during the Masters. Beyond that, he didn't discuss its significance or origin.

"Sometimes Buddhists, when they receive some kind of initiation into a certain practice, especially in the Tibetan Mala Beads tradition, they would be given a red thread, (to) go around the wrist," said Yu. "It sounds like this is what he was wearing."

After jail and countless court appearances, Lindsay Lohan's movie career finally appears to have been resuscitated.
Having recently wrapped filming on Liz & Dick, the 25-year-old star has gone straight on to her next job, shooting the sexual thriller The Canyons.
Even though filming is only just getting started, director Paul Schrader is already taking an interactive approach - sharing behind the scene photos of Facebook, including this one of Lohan in bed with porn star James Deen, the male lead in the film.

Lindsay as apparently agreed to appear fully nude in the movie, which has been written by controversial American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis.
The film is described as a LA noir, and will explore the seedy underbelly of LA life not seen in glossy shows such as MTV reality show The Hills.

 

It appears Lohan and Deen are finding the necessary chemistry, with the porn star sharing details of his rehearsals with the Mean Girls star on his blog.

HOW LINDSAY GOT THE JOB

Director Paul Schrader shared details of his decision-making process in casting Lindsay in the role of Tara on The Canyons' official Facebook page:
'Lindsay Lohan came late to the casting of Tara. I had originally planned to cast Monica Gambee, a model who posted her audition on letitcast. I was surprised how solid her reading was. After Braxton Pope met with her in Los Angeles, I flew out to screen test her. He laid out our situation (in terms of script, budget, nudity) and it seemed like we’d found our Tara. But when Monica heard that we were also considering James Deen, she balked at doing the test. I notified her that I would be willing not to consider Deen if she would be the lead (James had not yet tested), but Monica’s process of indecision was already in motion. It then became one thing one thing after another, and finally, she never came in for the screen test. I had planned that weekend to cast her both her and Sean Brosnan as the leads, but that plan unravelled.
'The weekend of the failed Gambee test, Braxton had approached her Lindsay Lohan’s manager (a friend of Braxton’s) about the possibility of Lindsay playing a cameo, but when we met with her at the Chateau Marmont she said she’d like to play the lead. Braxton and I were quite blunt, explaining we were paying for this ourselves and had no completion insurance and were uncomfortable with her track history. I told her that if she agreed to the micro budget salary did a screen test and completed Liz and Dick on schedule, we’d consider her. Two weeks later; I came to LA again, screen tested Lindsay and everything that has made her such an interesting screen presence came alive in that test. I decided to use her. It took another week weeks to negotiate her backend compensation.'

Writing about his last rehearsal with the actress earlier this week, Deen recalled: 'My favourite part of the day was sitting with Lindsay Lohan (who is amazing) and our director Paul Schrader (who is also amazing) and planning out how we would shoot our love scenes in the movie.'
Deen, the porn industry's Male Performer of the Year has featured in over 4000 X-rated films.
But The Canyons will be his first mainstream movie - and Deen has spoken candidly about his different approach to love scenes for the film.
'Doing porn is easy,' he shared, adding: '[But] the sex scenes in the movie are obviously not particularly sexual scenes. 
'They are plot driven story intensive scenes. The point of all this is that the three of us talked about how each shot was going to go and the choreography of each scene. We talked for a long time about it and even used props.'
In another interesting Facebook post on the official page for the film, Schrader has revealed detailed behind the scenes information about the casting process - and negotiations with Lohan.
He said he was initially considering giving her a cameo role - but was persuaded by her at a meeting at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood to give her a go at the lead role.
Schrader openly admits his fears in signing up the actress, based on her 'track history' - and told her he would only consider her if she 'agreed to the 'micro budget salary, did a screen test and completed Liz and Dick on schedule'.
The director also described how his first choice for the role of Tara was model Monica Gambee, not Lohan.
However Gambee 'balked at doing the [screen] test' after hearing porn star Deen was being consider as the male lead at the time.
Schrader wrote: 'It then became one thing one thing after another, and finally, she [Gambee] never came in for the screen test. I had planned that weekend to cast her both her and Sean Brosnan as the leads, but that plan unravelled.'
Even though Lohan 'came late to the casting of Tara' - she managed to impress with her screen test.
Schrader added: 'Everything that has made her such an interesting screen presence came alive in that test. I decided to use her.'

Unlike many other celebrity couples, Kevin and Kyra have defied the odds and recently celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary.
And speaking previously about how they keep their marriage strong, Kevin credited an active sex life for being one of the main ingredients for a happy relationship.
He said: 'Any marriage is hard work. But what I always say is, "Keep the fights clean and the sex dirty."'
Kyra added in a separate interview with More magazine: 'There's part of me that thinks, Are we going to be in our seventies before we all of a sudden look at each other and go,"Oh, hi?"
'Obviously that's part of what makes it exciting. You don't get bored; it has a certain spark to it. And, of course, I'm ready for him to work.
'He loves to work. We both do better what we're working.
'But sometimes it feels so different than what other people have.
'Every now and then I'll be like, "I'm having a hard day," and I realize, I'm lonely! I miss my husband, who was working far away.'

And her 'miracle' was in full force today as the 33-year-old pop singer strolled in curve-hugging jeans, a cute white top and high-heeled platform orange sandals.

It's the second single she's released so far from her new album, which is due out Sept. 18.
The first single, Big Hoops (Bigger the Better), was an instant success and has gotten a lot of play time on pop music stations.
